Static vCard versus a contact URL

A WIFI-style payload for people: the camera offers to save the card. Useful on a one-off badge. Useless if the mobile number changes next quarter. A dynamic URL to a hosted .vcf or LinkedIn profile is the other product. That is what /qr-code-for-contact-info generates. Use that when the card will live on paper for years.

No. The vCard string never leaves the browser.

Will iPhone and Android both save the contact?

Current camera apps recognise vCard 3.0. Some Android OEMs open a preview first; the user still confirms the save.
