Create your scan-to-call code

  1. Enter the full international number people should call. For example, +44 20 7946 0000 becomes tel:+442079460000 in the code. Use your own number in the generator.
  2. Download the PNG.
  3. Scan a printed proof with a phone and check the number offered for calling. Close it without placing a call during the test.

The code uses a tel link, like a call button on a website. It offers a calling action rather than placing the call automatically.

Put the code where someone can stop and scan

A reception sign can offer a direct line to the right team. A product label or manual can point to support. A parked service van can help someone enquire while the team is working nearby.

Print the number beside the code and say who answers, for example “Call our repair desk”. Include opening hours where useful. A visitor should know what the call is for before scanning.

Keep the same printed code when your number changes

Create a dynamic QR code for a contact page on your website. Put a call button on that page, save the QR code to your account and download it for printing.

You can change the number on your contact page or update the saved destination in QRtracer. Separate saved codes for each sign or vehicle let you compare scans. To measure calls themselves, use your website’s call-button analytics or a call-tracking service; QRtracer scan totals do not show connected calls.

If no calling option appears

The device needs an app that handles telephone links. A desktop may show an app chooser, and a tablet may not offer calling. Test with a phone that can make calls and check the full international number.
