This is a static QR code: the data is inside the pattern, so it works without QRtracer and doesn't expire, but it can't be edited or tracked after printing. Scan it with your phone before printing.

How a scan-to-call code works

The code contains your number as a tel: link, the same format used by "call" buttons on websites. When someone scans it, the phone shows the number and a call button. Nothing is dialled until they tap it, so people stay in control of the call.

Use the international format

Start with + and the country code, then the number without its leading zero: a UK number 020 7946 0000 becomes +44 20 7946 0000, a Dutch 020 123 4567 becomes +31 20 123 4567. That way the code works for visitors with foreign phones too. The generator removes spaces and brackets.

Where a call code earns its place

  • Vehicles and site boards: people can't copy a number from a passing van, but they can scan it at a traffic light or in a car park.
  • Out-of-hours doors: a code on the door of a pharmacy, garage or rental office connects people to the emergency or after-hours line.
  • Product labels and manuals: a direct line to support or repairs.
  • Printed ads for older audiences: calling is often preferred over forms.

Keep the number printed next to the code for people who'd rather type it.

Changing your number later

This free code is static: the number is fixed in the pattern, and a new number means a new code. If the number might change, or you'd like to count calls started from each van or poster, make a dynamic QR code that points to a small contact page with a call button.
