How an SMS QR code works
Scanning the code opens the phone's messaging app with your number and message filled in. The person still taps send themselves, and normal SMS charges from their provider may apply. It uses the widely supported SMSTO format, which iPhone and Android cameras recognise.
Common uses
- Keyword opt-ins: "JOIN" to your SMS list (follow your local consent rules).
- Votes and entries: a different keyword per option.
- Call-back requests: "Please call me back about…".
- Parking, pickup or queue notifications where staff reply by text.
Use an international number
Enter the full number with country code, for example +44 7700 900123, so the code works for visitors with foreign SIM cards too. The generator removes spaces and brackets.
