The right free generator depends on what happens after you download. A fixed link for one document needs different features from a printed campaign whose destination will change.

How to choose the right one
- Just need a static code once? QRtracer, QRCode Monkey or Canva are all fine. Pick the one you find easiest.
- Printing in volume, or might the link change? Use a dynamic code, and read what happens to it if you stop paying before you print.
- Need to know which placement works? You need scan tracking, so rule out static-only tools and use one code per placement.

Check your final file before choosing
- Download a code for a page you control. Note whether an account or payment is required for the file type and design you need.
- Read the encoded address. A direct destination and a provider redirect have different dependencies. Use the QR link checker as a starting point.
- If editing matters, test it. Change the destination in the provider's controls and scan the original downloaded image again.
