QRCode Monkey Alternative for Codes You Can Edit and Track

QRCode Monkey offers free static codes, logo and colour customisation, and commercial use. PNG and SVG support its design options; PDF and EPS are limited to classic codes without logos or custom designs. Its editable-code and statistics promotion leads to QR Code Generator PRO, a separate service.

We entered https://example.com/?utm_source=print&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=qrtracer_review in QRCode Monkey’s URL field, kept the default black-and-white design, generated the code and downloaded an SVG without creating an account. An advertisement for the separate PRO service appeared during download; it did not require signup to receive the file.

We rendered the SVG at 1,000 × 1,000 pixels and decoded it locally. The result matched the full entered URL, including all three campaign parameters. That test produced a direct link to example.com, not a provider redirect.

This was one desktop download and decode test. We did not test logo designs, physical print quality, the paid service or long-term availability. Other feature descriptions above come from published information, not a full product trial.

Yes, if the destination supports measurement. A code containing a tagged website URL can bring campaign information to the website’s analytics. Google explains how UTM parameters identify referring campaigns. The website must have Analytics configured and actually receive the visit; reading the QR pattern alone does not send a Google Analytics event.

That measures website activity, not every camera scan. Consent choices, blocked scripts and repeat visits affect interpretation. QRtracer instead records requests to its saved redirect link and presents scan activity per code. Those requests are also not a count of unique people or completed purchases. Choose the measurement that answers your question.

First read the exact address encoded in it. If it points directly to your own website, you can still update the content at that address or configure a redirect from it. The printed pattern stays fixed, but the page behind it need not.

If you cannot control that address, QRtracer cannot take it over. A new QRtracer code normally means a new image for the next print run or a replacement label. Read how to change a printed QR code before deleting the old destination.

A direct-link pattern has no built-in expiry date. The destination can still become unavailable or require access, and damaged or poorly printed codes can become unreadable. “No expiry” is not a guarantee that the whole journey will work forever.

Use QRtracer when several signs or handouts need separate scan reports, or when the destination will move to another address you cannot manage through your own website. For example, a venue can give its reception sign and event poster separate codes, then update both to a new booking service.

Download without tracking contains the entered URL directly and cannot gain QRtracer tracking afterwards.
