Link to your published email signup form

QRtracer encodes the URL of your hosted signup page. The form, consent wording, confirmation email, subscriber storage, and unsubscribe process remain with your email platform or website. Before creating the code, publish the form and open it on a phone without an admin session. Keep the first screen short enough that the email field, consent language, and submit button are easy to understand. Do not encode an email address or customer data in the QR code; link to the public form instead.

Create and test the printed signup code

  1. Copy the public URL for the hosted newsletter form, not an editing or preview URL.
  2. Create the QR code and choose tracking if you want a named, editable destination.
  3. Label the code for its placement, such as September shop counter, so reports remain useful.
  4. Add a plain invitation near the code that says what the person will receive and how often.
  5. Test the final printed proof with several phones before distributing it.

For example, a café can place one code beside the till and a different code on takeaway receipts. Both can open the same signup form while remaining distinguishable in QRtracer scan reports.

Measure scans and confirmed opt-ins separately

A QRtracer scan records that the code URL opened. It does not prove that someone entered an email address, accepted the consent terms, or completed double opt-in. Compare QRtracer scan counts with confirmed subscribers reported by the email platform over the same date range. A large gap can point to a slow form, unclear value, access problem, or a placement that attracts curiosity rather than intent. Use a separate dynamic code per placement when you need a useful comparison, and change the destination later if the form moves.

Free and paid QRtracer features

Free accounts can create up to 3 dynamic codes and receive 14 days of Analytics and QR Studio access. The QRtracer redirect and scan recording continue after that access period. A paid plan restores ongoing dashboard access and includes SVG export for scalable print artwork and CSV export for analysis outside QRtracer. Your newsletter provider still controls consent records, subscriber status, delivery, and confirmation. Keep the destination available while the code is in circulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does QRtracer collect the subscriber's email address?
No. QRtracer opens the hosted signup URL you provide and records the scan. The destination form and email service collect and manage subscriber information and consent.
Can I change the signup form after printing?
Yes, when you save a dynamic QR code. Update its destination to the new published form URL in your dashboard while keeping the printed QR pattern unchanged.
How should I judge an email signup QR campaign?
Compare scans in QRtracer with confirmed opt-ins in your email platform for the same period. Scans show opens; only the email platform can confirm completed subscriptions.
